This Blingual School is the only integrated, bilingual educational institution for Jewish and Arab residents in the Negev. Our school aims to build bridges between students who play and learn together. In addition, parents and family members, who actively engage in the educational process, form a model community dedicated to creating a shared society and more peaceful future.
Hagar’s students participate in a progressive learning model, which goes well beyond teaching to standardized tests and instead aims to encompass our students’ whole selves. Our pedagogy centers on self-guided exploration, hands-on learning and collaborative projects. Hagar works to adapt the Ministry of Education’s curriculum and standards, with approval, to fit our model, which facilitates bilingualism and multiculturalism.

School Description
Degania Bilingual School
Instructors: 100% of Kindergarten classes are taught by both Arab and Jewish instructors, 70% in 1st & 2nd grades, 62% in 3rd grade, and 57% in 4th-6th grade.
Language Studies: 7 hours are dedicated to students' mother tongue each week, and 6 hours to second language studies.
Events & Community: The Degania School conducts 35 community events throughout the school year and summer, with an average attendance of 70 participants. Some of the ongoing events are limited to parents alone.
Our Pedagogy is based on the constructivist school of thought, emphasizing the importance of independent thinking, comprehension, and knowledge acquisition. One key assumption of PBL (Project-based-learning), is that in order for students to successfully navigate through the work they must be able to analyze complex social, cultural, and political processes.
