Program Description

The Umm el Fahm Art Gallery and the Wilfrid Israel Museum, two fine arts museums located in the same geographical vicinity, initiated this shared life program for Arab and Jewish pupils living in the area. The Shared Space Project enables Arab and Jewish students to meet through art; while learning to observe it, ask questions, and most importantly, listen to each other and jointly engage in creative work.

In every meeting, the two groups participate in activities around an exhibition at the Umm el Fahm Gallery or Wilfrid Israel Museum. The students experience both individual and group activities in which the non verbal creative process is highly emphasized. All meetings are facilitated by 4 instructors, two Arab speakers and two Hebrew speakers. All explanations and discussions are conducted in both languages.
