Program Description

This two-year educational program pairs Arab and Jewish elementary schools in a captivating yearlong program during formal education hours. Drawing on the unique geographical and cultural positioning of the Galilee region, and in response to the growing alienation and separation between the Jewish and Arab populations, “Learning from the Past – Building Bridges Today” utilizes archaeology and arts to foster mutual understanding, communication, and leadership skills among 160-180 Jewish and Arab 5th-6th grade students, their teachers, and their parents. The curriculum is based on studies of regional diversity overtime, local cultures, identity, and the foundations of a shared society. Ensuring a more sustainable impact beyond the students, the teachers and parents undergo training and are engaged in shared society activities as well.

Potential Development - Pending Funding

The project works on a school-twinning educational model of leadership development that can expand to up to 4 pairs of Jewish-Arab schools in the northern region. Expansion to new schools means more than merely engaging more students, it means we work with more diverse constituents such as Druze, Christian, and Muslim Arabs, traditional and religious Jewish schools, and more.
