This unconventional project trains Israeli Jewish, Israeli Arab, and German students (mainly in education) to acquire and develop educational tools for use in multicultural environments. Through workshops and site visits in Israel and Germany, participants confront flashpoints such as the Jewish-Arab divide, the Holocaust, and Muslim immigrants in Germany. Preparing for careers in educating thousands of children, participants focus on racism and discrimination alongside components of a healthy and diverse society: shared identity and culture, tolerance, reconciliation, and national responsibility. The experience enables them get to know each other, build mutual trust, and combine significantly different modes of thought. A summary presentation is made to the Achva community and invited professionals, and program results are published online.
